Maryland closely regulates vehicle donations and maintains an online list of charities that accepts car donations.
In Maryland, the charity to which you want to donate a vehicle must be licensed as a Maryland wholesale dealer. Wholesale dealers may not sell vehicles to a retail buyer. You can view the list of more than 30 regulated charities at: http://mva.state.md.us/VehicleServ/REG/charitiesdealers.htm.
Q.
What if the car being donated is a collector`s item, rather than a standard vehicle ?, I have a collection and selling is such a hassle, I would rather donate this car instead, but the valuation would need to be fair market based on my investment in the vehicle.
