May 25, 2007, Newsletter Issue #58: Charities May Share Information on Donors

Tip of the Week

Donate Car For Charity Tip: Before you donate a car to charity, find out about the organization's policies on disclosing information on donors.
Many charities have donor privacy policies, refusing to sell or disclose information about the individuals who give to them. Before making vehicle donations, it's a smart idea to learn whether the charity sells or shares the donor's contact information.
If the charity does -- and you are uncomfortable with the policy -- ask for your personal information to be kept off the lists it sells or shares with outside groups.
